News, illustrations, tulips

¡Oooooh,I didn’t get the Thyssen museum project! But, I promise, I was this close! I got preselected with two other great, great works of my mates. Nevermind, I’m already thinking of something to make out of the collection and there’s also a big final project I have to focus on now.

More news: I got an email this morning from a magazine called Absenthe, which I didn’t remember at all, saying my submission was featured. Well I sent it in october, no wonder it was gone of my mind. Well here it is, Charlotte, Jarvis and Lily say hi.

More stuff: as I promised, I’ve been through all the cards I picked at Nómada Design Market and I’d like to tell you about two things:

One,  Mei jewellery, combining metal and textile. What do you think? For me it’s really some fresh air.

And another one, a courageous french girl, what is she doing here? Like you didn’t know the crisis is worse here than in France. Same as Cécile, who also lives here and makes cute stuff. Besides, this girl makes textile design, just what I’m studying, so I was most interested and went to visit her blog. Quite amusing, with DIY tutorials and inspirations. I want to make those tulips. Best of all? The name: Arrête de rêver = Stop dreaming. Irony… like!

A fruit sticker with the face of a St Bernard dog

Alegre is what I am, with this wonderful post about me in La Condesa’s blog.

To finish up with the stories of my short trip to Paris, and to take up again on fruit stickers which I love so much, there you are this post with stickers collected only and exclusively in french fruit stores.

I fancy this one, I don’t think I had seen it before. The green border reminds me of Pictolín sweets and I love it.

Royal gala, I’d seen them before, but look at this: Taste of the year 2011! Meaning the future, because I picked it up in mid-december (2010). How advanced, these frenchies.

But! What a pleasant surprise when I met up again with this old doggy friend. I picked it up in Brussels, in 2008, I can even tell you the name of the street where the fruit shop was: Rue Blaes. I would see it there, stuck in my album, and I thought it was a product of my imagination or either some kind of street-art. Rather fruit-art. But not. It’s a real brand of oranges, and this time I took two with me. Aren’t they just amazing.

So the news of the week are, besides the wonderful post where La Condesa c shows my paintings and messy hair, and talks wonders about me, and even proposes me an exhibition, that this friday and saturday I’ll be at textile fair Heimtextil, in Francfort, so I’ll be able to compare it with Première Vision… and of course I’ll be loaded with homework about it for my master. I’ll tell you all about it next week.

I steal in the fruit shops

I’ve been wanting to show my fruit stickers collection for some time. I started in high school, then forgot about it a bit, then started again, and now i have two small photo albums. Yes, only two, but bear in mind that those stickers don’t need much space!

I can hear you, ssshhh, don’t you laugh! You may not pay attention to them, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth a second look. Most of them are either cute or funny (funny goes for melon stickers, mostly). My very favourite sticker and the one I started my collection with is this one:

“Solita” means “all alone” (in feminine) and it’s an orange brand. Had you seen it before?
